Jeff grew up on his Grandpa Christofferson's beef jerky, who found the marinade recipe in a newspaper years ago!
And he loves it.
So we decided to make some!
First we made the marinade, and put the meat in to soak overnight in the fridge.
(We used a roast cut up into 3-quarter inch slices, and the marinade is a mixture of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and liquid smoke.)
Then we let it cook for 18-24 hours, rotating the trays every 2-3 hours...
(Yes we got up twice during the night, each taking a turn! But it's worth it!)
And voila! Beef jerky! Hmmmm.....

Mmmmm... love that stuff! I agree: definitely worth waking up for. Bron and I made some homemade jerky especially for our long car trip out to NY. It was gone... fast!
picnik.com, baby! I'm too lazy to make a header in photoshop just yet!
Don't tell him I said this, but I think your jerky looks better than grandpa's did.
He made his in the oven with the door slightly opened. The whole house would have this great smokey-beef smell.
Thanks for the memory and good job on the jerky. Wish I could try it!
Looks SOO Good!! We also tried beef jerky for the first time this year. . . so Yummy!!
