Fall is Here!

I love all seasons. Spring, summer, fall, winter...

Growing up in Colorado, I gained a love for each season and their different characteristics. Living in Idaho and Utah have only contributed to that love.

I've always been one who was excited for the next season to come:

Spring to end the cold and snow and wet feet...
Summer to end the lugging of coats and fickle weather...
Fall to end the bloody heat...
And winter to bring snow, holidays, and snowboarding...

This is the first year in a long time that I wasn't ready for summer to end. We had an exceptionally cool spring, with the rain all through May and June. Jeff and I were only able to go boating once due to my job. We have only been able to go camping once also because of my job. We haven't spent near as much time outside as we normally do in the summer due to my working Saturdays, and I feel like I missed it. We also don't have normal heat in our apartment... well, we have an old gas furnace, but we've never used it and have no idea if it works or if it'd be expensive to run all winter. We survived last winter off of 3 space heaters. I'm really not ready for the cold to come this year...

Basically, I just wasn't ready for summer to be over.

But in the past week or two, fall has crept into Happy Valley and into me. I've finally let myself think about the holidays that are coming soon. After the first crisp evening of the season, I started getting excited to wear fall clothes again. The leaves are changing on the mountain. We went to the first home BYU football game Saturday, and despite the loss, I was definitely feeling my old fall spirit!

Halloween.
Red, orange, yellow, brown leaves.
Hoodies.
Thanksgiving.
Carving pumpkins.
Cuddling in blankets.
Sunny days with cool weather
Family holidays.
Bonfires.
Crisp mornings and evenings. (I love the word "crisp"- it's one of the best words to describe fall air!)
Cougar Football.
Decorating for Christmas.
Driving up to see the leaves.

Fall is here. And I'm finally so excited!

I love the excitement the comes with fall...especially BYU football. It seems like every season happens at just the right time, but I could always use spring much much earlier :)

Me too! Fall is one of my most FAVORITE seasons! I just got all the decor out and am waiting until October 1st to put up Halloween! I totally know how you feel by "missing summer" because of work and rain. But life will change quickly. We watched the BYU game on tv last Saturday and wished we could be there. I'm glad you got to go. For all the crap we give happy valley, we miss the rocky mountains!
