Pretty much the only word to describe Shad's first attempt at solid food is: FAIL.
I don't think one teaspoon made it down his throat, but all out his lips and down his chin instead. He didn't quite know what to do with it in his mouth...
Ha ha. We sure enjoyed his funny faces though.
His next two attempts went much better. It may have helped that I figured out to put the spoon in his mouth, wait for him to close his mouth around it, and then pull it out rather than trying to dump it on his tongue or empty the spoon with his top gums. But he also is quickly figuring out how to move the food from the front to the back of his mouth and swallow, which was the important part.
I usually have to hold his hands with one of my hands and feed with the other, as he just wants to grab the spoon and fling it around, covering himself, myself, the Bumbo, table, etc. (We learned that the hard way...)
Besides rice cereal we've also tried some pureed baby food. We started with green beans. Oh the faces. He squinted, he gagged, he eventually swallowed, and he still opened his mouth for more.
(And was screaming while I was getting the food ready, hence the red face)
I was too busy laughing to get some quality pictures, but this one is pretty awesome:
It's time consuming and he still requires a bath after every attempt, but he's getting the hang of it!

He makes some great faces!
he is so cute, and soo blonde!
This is hilarious. And he is SO darn cute! That one with his little crocodile tear is so sad. I'm a sucker for those crocodile tears. I'm happy he's finally starting to get it though, pretty soon and he'll be eating off of your plates!
