Our little guy turned five months this week!
Shad can almost stay sitting up on his own! Especially with the support of his hands. He always gets distracted or excited which makes him topple over.
He sat in a shopping cart for the first time this month! With the help of the strap he did really well!
He even fell asleep in a shopping cart, in a very uncomfortable looking pose which sparked a lot of comments...
He has started making more noises, most of which sound like a combination of a grunt and a yell, but it isn’t a fussy sound. We think he may be starting to discover his voice. He's also started pursing his lips, which is sometimes accompanied by another sound that I don't really know how to describe. It's hilarious.
He's rolled over from his belly to back, but has only done it a few times. I don't think he realized it or knew he was doing it.
He has started getting curious about things that aren’t toys and reaching for them, especially phones, cameras, Ipods, TV remotes, and anything paper. We did get him a stationary entertainer which he loves for about 10-15 minutes, and then wants to get out... hopefully when he's a little bigger he'll enjoy it longer!
He is very close to pushing up and getting on his knees while on his belly. He can get his tummy up, but can't stay up for more than a few seconds. He can also maneuver himself around in a circle on his belly.
He's discovered my hair and likes to grab and pull it, especially those sensitive little hairs in the back!
And on that note, we've noticed recently his hair is finally starting to grow! It's not much, maybe a centimeter if that, but it's something!
My dad also discovered while we were in Boise that when he's tired Shad does like being swaddled again! Well I don't know if he likes it; He cries and fights to get out, but within 5-10 minutes he gives in and falls asleep!
I have a theory for whether Shad got enough sleep or not. If he wakes up fussy and/or screaming, it usually means he didn't get enough sleep. But if he wakes up happy and rolls over and looks around or starts playing, then he did get enough. I'm still determining whether this is an actual trend or not. I love peeking in in the morning and seeing his little head poking up above the edge of the crib bumper.
He recently started sucking on his bottom lip. I don't know why this is so cute but I love it.
He successfully held bottle while laying on the ground, and fed himself the last 2 oz without dropping it!
He has so many different faces! I love his crooked/ half smile he sometimes gives, his sympathy smile when we're trying to get him to laugh, how he has forehead dimples when he's confused or curious, his tired puffy-eyed face when he first wakes up, and of course his big happy open mouthed grins!
He still enjoys the jumper and swaying around while staring into the pantry or watching us in the kitchen.
He fell asleep on his tummy for the first time! And with his pacifier in one hand and a toy in the other.
I gave him a stalk of carrot the other day while cooking dinner and he went to town on it! I don't know how much flavor he was able to get from it without any teeth or if it was just the texture, but he sure loved it!
We sure do love this little dude!
