This past weekend we headed up to Bennington, ID to my grandparent's farm for the annual Wright Reunion. My great-aunt Winnie Mae has purchased land across the highway from the farm where she has a cabin as well, plus various family members still live in the area, so everyone can fit somewhere. I absolutely LOVE visiting the farm! It's not only nostalgic but we always have a lot of fun and are always glad we made the trip up.
It was a little different this year though not having my Grandpa there. It was the first reunion since he passed away. It made us all even more reminiscent.
Like for instance, when you roll into Montpelier and see the "M" on the mountain, you can't help but hear Grandpa's saying, "See the M, that's for Mike's Town." :)
This is the road that turns off the highway down to the Farm. That's the house there in the middle with the red roof.
I stole this from Nessa from instagram.
When we got into town we headed straight over to the church (due to the rain) where the family was having a big soup dinner for those who were already in town. There was an awesome rainbow when we arrived!
Shad playing with a bunch of his extended cousins. Most are 2nd or 3rd cousins! I love that we still have big extended family reunions!
Saturday morning my Grandma followed tradition and treated us all to breakfast at the Ranch Hand. Kathy, Drew, Megan, Nessa, Mandie, and Doug were all there besides us.
(I also stole this picture from Nessa from instagram.)
Afterwards we mostly just hung out at the farm until it was time to go to the potluck at the park.
At the park everyone mostly just sat around and ate. They had a few old school playground toys there, and then someone brought a few games for the kids. After eating various family members talked about what was going on in their family's lives. This kind of thing used to bore me as a kid, but I really enjoy it now. Hearing old stories, memories, and especially talking about my Grandpa at the farm made for a special afternoon.
After the potluck at the park we headed out to Bear Lake with Megan and Mandie to swim for a little while.
That evening we mostly just hung out and watched a movie. We went and got Subway for dinner and snacks at the store.
