Here we go again!
This year I had the opportunity to run with not only a van of all friends, but for the Huntsman Cancer Institute as part of their Huntsman Hometown Heroes program! I had the opportunity to raise money for cancer research and as a result, Huntsman covered the cost of our team. (Apparently there were a few Huntsman Hometown Heroes teams, and they also sponsor other races- marathons, bike races, etc. Pretty cool!) They asked us each to raise $500 for cancer research, but if we raised $1000 we would get a nice running jacket... I reach $1000 the DAY Ragnar started! Woohoo! Unfortunately I won't get my jacket till the party they'll host later this summer, but still! *fist bump*
We were in Van 1 this year:
Runner 1: MaShay Hermann
Runner 2: Me
Runner 3: Ceci Hermann
Runner 4: Alaina Hoisington
Runner 5: Lisa Moore
Runner 6: Rachel Rogers
Kerry Hoisington planned to run but got injured last minute and couldn't run, so he decided to still borrow his sister's Suburban and be our driver. We also had another runner drop out a few weeks before so both MaShay and Ceci ran for us instead.
We met at Hoisington's and all headed up to Logan Thursday night to stay at Lisa's sister's house.
Our start time was 7am... Here we are at the start line ready to go!
(I'm running the Spartan next week so...)
MaShay ready to start on the starting line at the Utah State track:
Leg 2: Me!
Leg 3: Ceci
Leg 4: Alaina
Check out this guy! Out there doing Ragnar with his grandkids... Incredible!!! We couldn't help but cheer him on every time we passed him...
Our van, complete with hero cape ;)
Leg 5: Lisa
Leg 6: Rachel
After our first major exchange... We also made our own Huntsman Hometown Hero capes!
Hanging out at the second major exchange. Sheena (Simpson) also ran, but on a different team. I'm glad we got to see her for a few minutes!
Waiting for MaShay to start her 2nd leg!
I didn't get many pictures in the dark... Just Ceci!
Our second set of legs ended in Coalville, which is where Alaina is from. Her parents live RIGHT off the course and only like 2 miles from the end of our last legs! So we were able to go to their house, have a shower, and we all had our own beds! Bliss.
Starting our last set of legs:
MaShay's done!
My finish! Wooo!
Ceci's done!
Alaina's last leg:
Lisa's done!
Van 1 finished! Woo!
I kinda hate this picture of me, but it's THE ONLY team photo we got...
Van 1
They moved the finish from Park City High School to Soldier Hollow this year.
DONE!
Half our van had to bounce... so here we are representing all 6 ;)
