Training for an upcoming race (Ragnar Relay... stay tuned for that, it's this weekend!) has really given me the opportunity to explore Springville. I've climbed up in the nieghborhoods and seen the whole town/valley, and also gone up Hobble Creek Canyon for the first time. I've discovered I actually really like jogging Hobble Creek Canyon.
I've been following this training schedule for beginners (since I was very out of shape after a concurrent ACL surgery and c-section...) that was on the Ragnar website:
I don't feel like it's been too hard or too easy for me. I haven't followed it exactly though. I started out at 2 days a week, then tried really hard to do 3 days a week, choosing either the Friday or Saturday run. Hopefully it's been enough, I have a very difficult first leg!

Shad does pretty well overall, he often falls asleep for half of the ride, and is usually content to eat out of his snack cup.
I just have to pay attention cause he likes to drop his snack/ sippy cups or even shoes over the edge of the stroller...

In training for hills, I decided to jog Provo Canyon for the first time. I also needed to change up the scenery of Springville. I really pushed myself, making it from the parking lot at the base of the canyon up to Bridal Veil Falls and back! That's 4 miles each way, 8 miles total, and I jogged the whole way! I even still managed to sprint at the very end. I only stopped 2-3 times, and just for a minute, to stretch balled-up calves or take this picture. It is my new personal record. I've never run that far in my entire life, let alone half of it being uphill!
Don't be fooled by my exclamation points though, I'm still pretty nervous for my "What the Hill?!" leg of my upcoming race. Ready or not, Ragnar Relay, here I come!
