For those of you who didn't already know... the apartment we're living is actually a third of an old brick house built in the late 1800's... It's pretty cool, with the old intricate molding around the doorways, huge windows, high ceilings... Except when it gets to winter time. Then it's "cool" in other ways as well... or worse.
High ceilings, huge windows, tile floors, and no weather stripping around the doors equals COLD! The house does have some kind of furnace/heater, but it's the only thing that runs off gas, and our gas is currently shut off so we only have an electric bill. After taking one look at our furnace...

The big radiator heater heats the whole room and keeps it generally warm, while the little one produces strong heat straight out to a small space.

Linds you should have just made a fire pit right in the middle of your living room!! mmmmm, smell like fire constantly!!
Hmm...that reminds me of a studio apartment over a one car garage that didn't have any insulation. We loved space heaters.
